PvP Servers are more fun for people that want to fight other players out of a battleground. Each part of Azeroth and Outland have specific colored tags. These specify Neutral, Horde Contested or Alliance Contested.

Let’s say you’re horde. On a PvP server if you were in a zone labeled Horde Contested then you cannot be hurt by other pleayers unless you manually turn your “pvp flag” on.

If you’re in a Neutral or Alliance contested area as horde then your PvP Flag will automatically turn on and will not go off until you go to a neutral or horde contested area for 5 minutes without and fighting against other players.

The flag is the key to PvP, if you see an enemy player without this on then they are un-attackable. If it is on then yours must be on to engage them, or it will flag by simply attacking them.

This method i listed only applies to PvP servers and to me is more fun since as you level up you can fight other players. Some see this as a disadvantage since high leveled players can come and kill you if your flag is on.

On PvE servers the only main difference is that in a neutral area your PvP Flag will not automatically trigger. You mut manually turn it on using the /pvp command. So the difference between PvP and PvE (server-wise) is that on PvP the server is more adjustable to fighting other players in world combat.

There is no way to say who is friendlier on each server side because people are people. Are people nicer in the video game section or the religion section on Yahoo answers?

Ganking on PvP is a hassle but you can safely level on your own territory at all levels if it becomes a hassle, it just takes a little longer. Or have some friends come kill them :]

Endgame PvP and PvE are different in many ways. At 70 most people give up world pvp and start doing Battlegrounds. Battlegrounds are small mapped areas with objectives to complete between mutliple servers. Lifetime highest rank is un-achievable now.

Endgame PvE is done and can be done on ANY server, PvP, PvE or RP etc… This is raiding which you guess right, is grouping with others to kill computer generated mobs. Server type has NOTHING to do with this.

My advice is to roll on a PvP server and tough it out to 70 and have fun whichever way you wish. You can Battleground, Arena (another type of battleground), Raid, Party or a combo of them all.

Pve– These servers you will not be flagged for PvP when in certain areas and can flag when you decide to. (Either by doing it manually or by killing or attacking something of the opposite faction.) If you have money to spare; I would suggest you level to 70 on a Pve server then if interested, tranfer over to a PvP server.

PVE Gear is good for groups and PVP gear focuses on DPS

Always Carry Stealth Detection Pots In PVP Or 105% youll get ganked.

I say PVP is the more popular one..Its funner..you never know whats in store in PVP

I am new to World of Warcraft as well. I found this site which is really helpful and has tons of guides including some good pvp ones. is what I’ve been using for help but there are lots of other places to go for guides as well. uh lets see, to name another-

-”Do more people play PvP or PvE?”

Well, to be honest, I’ve played both and there are very large groups on both types of servers! The population is spread out, and you will find “full” (meaning high population) servers of both types.

-”How good is PvP on PvE?”

Not very prevalant. Random world encounters just aren’t what they used to be. The only World PvP that happens is in level 60+ Zones, and even then there is a pretty sad turnout. The only real PvP that happens on PvE servers is in the Battlegrounds.

-”Can you do it [Raiding] on PvE and PvP survers and how popular is it on each?”

Absolutely. You can raid on PvP servers or PvE servers. The only real difference that I’ve found is how long it takes to get started. There can be a real bloodbath on PvP servers outside of the raid instances when you’re waiting for everyone to get there, or trying to summon people to the instance. It takes a little longer. Generally speaking, people on PvE servers are more “Raid-Minded” meaning, that is their end goal, rather than arenas or battlegrounds, but it is not a hard and fast rule. You will find raid groups on both types of servers.

-”How bad is the ganking on PvP?”

I thought it would be a lot worse when I started out there. Sometimes I’m passed with a wave by the other faction, sometimes outright killed by 1 or 5 high-level characters when leveling, but I have rarely been “camped” i.e. people waiting to kill you after you resurrect. I would say this depends on which PvP server you’re on though… some are more brutal than others.

-”Are people on PvP just obsessed with doing PvP and nothing else?”

Some people are. But not everyone. You’ll find people obsessed with PvP on PvE servers too– but you’ll find them in Battlegrounds and Arenas.

-”Lifetime Highest PvP rank”; what is this and can yo achieve it on PvE?”

Unfortunately, this is not something that can be achieved anymore. There was a change in the Honor system a few months before Burning Crusade came out, which eliminated the Honor Rank system. Before that time, you were able to buy PvP items based on what rank you had earned. Now you are able to purchase PvP items based on how much honor you have, and it’s used as currency. Lifetime PvP Rank is the highest Honor Rank that your character had achieved before this change happened. The titles were made available as a “thank you” to those who had played under the old system.

-”Are people friendlier on PvE or PvP? how easy is it to make friends on each?”

You will find friends on both types of servers. If you are courteous and play your class well, you will make LOTS of friends.

As for Arena… Well, it’s like a “group duel” in a controlled environment. One team is pitted against another team, and the winning team recieves arena rank while the losing team loses rank. Once per week, the rank is used to award team members Arena Points, which they use as currency to purchase PvP-oriented items.

Best of luck with your choice, and rest assured, you will be able to find friends, PvE and PvP on both types of servers– just in different strengths!

Also they have arena and battle grounds which you earn honor points to gain epic type gear. Where lifetime kills come in to play.

Pretty much for arena, you can make 2 man or 3 man or 5 man teams. You can get points from that to buy gear, depending on your teams rating, (how many matches you win per week.) On tuesday starts a new week for the arena. Decent gear, for pvp, if your in to doing dungeons epic gear drops as well but geared towards PVE> Faction gear from doing reputation quest.

As far as making friends , I never had a problem with that.. So I wouldnt know.
